About the Waverly Jaycees
![]()
Our Name
Jaycees stands for Junior Chamber. We get our
nickname from way back in 1916 when the organization
was called the Junior Citizens which was often
shortened to JC or when spelled out, Jaycees. Our
name officially switched to the Junior Chamber of
Commerce in 1920.
Our Mission
To provide
opportunities for young people in the areas of
leadership development, service, entrepreneurship,
and fellowship in order to create
positive change in our community.
Our Vision
To become the
organization of choice for young people, providing
direction and leadership to our communities and
nation.
Our
Purpose
The
Junior Chamber organization is a constructive action
organization of young persons aged 18-41 (inclusive)
who devote a portion of their time to community
service in the public interest, developing young
persons as leaders of their community. The
Waverly Chapter gives it's members the tools they
need to develop themselves while making a difference
in the community. We offer personal and professional
development through four areas of opportunity:
- Business - Entrepreneurship Development
- Community - Community Involvement and Charity Fundraising
- Individual - Personal and Professional Development
- International - Global Involvement and Cultural Awareness
